Focusing,  This thing happened

At least the birds and possums eat well

The birds were feasting on the ripe figs, jostling for the juiciest morsels, occasionally a fight breaking out. So loud it carried through the weekly phone call.

Waiting until after my Focusing session, my friend enquired: what is that noise?

After a particularly bad squabble, my friend commented again during her session, then was able to go back to spending time with her inner places.

After the call, wanting to send her a photo of our audio intruders, I Googled Rosellas, but our feathered friends were not there.

Challenge accepted.

First step: get a photo. Phone camera cannot zoom enough. DSLR with standard lens (through a window) and the focus only finding branches and leaves.

Time to get serious – break out 55-300mm lens, find a good vantage point outside to view the mysterious bird at the tops of the tree.

Now I can photograph and search online for “blue head, green wings, orange body.”

= Rainbow Lorikeet.

Meet the noisy dudes who dropped into my *last Focusing partnership call.

Second step: get the photos off my camera. With a recently updated OS, this required finding the camera specific apps, troubleshooting the error message. Sometimes just closing everything down and rebooting fixes problems.

Third step: crop images

Fourth step: share with friends… 12 months later!

Insight: One way to get your apps updated – force yourself to use them.

I like this, let’s do it again.
